THE CLIENT

A leading Australian gold producer operating across multiple sites in Western Australia. At the South Kalgoorlie operations site, the client continues to focus on improving safety, efficiency, and plant reliability through targeted equipment upgrades and process improvements.

BRIEF

The client engaged IKAD to design, manufacture, and deliver a replacement vibrating screen after the existing unit was taken out of service indefinitely. The original screen had failed during maintenance, when a section of the deck gave way.
As the plant relied on a single vibrating screen, the client was forced to bypass this section of the circuit and hire a temporary mobile screening plant at significant cost. With the OEM’s lead time for a new unit quoted at 12–18 months, the client approached IKAD to explore whether a replacement could be delivered much sooner.

PLANNING FOR SUCCESS

Understanding the urgency, IKAD immediately committed to developing a new vibrating screen based on the existing unit. Within days, the project team mobilised to site to perform a full 3D scan of the damaged screen, collecting all critical data required for engineering a replacement.
Early engagement with the client’s site and management teams ensured clear communication, alignment of expectations, and confidence in the technical approach. This front-end planning was essential to managing the inherent risks associated with replicating a critical piece of process equipment.

OUR APPROACH

Using the 3D scanning data, IKAD’s engineering team produced detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, accurately replicating the original design while incorporating improvements identified during assessment.
The complete scope of work – fabrication, machining, rubber lining, surface treatment, painting, assembly, and delivery; was executed entirely in-house.
Despite the challenging timeframe, the project remained on schedule through strong coordination across all departments and a proactive approach to procurement and quality assurance. From initial site scan to final delivery, the entire process was completed in approximately seven weeks.

WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVED

The client received a fully fabricated, assembled, and ready-to-install vibrating screen that met all operational requirements and reinstated a critical part of the processing circuit.
The rapid turnaround eliminated the need for prolonged use of the temporary mobile screening plant, delivering significant cost savings and restoring production efficiency.
The success of the project demonstrated IKAD’s ability to combine advanced scanning technology, engineering expertise, and integrated manufacturing capability under tight deadlines.

MOVING FORWARD

The successful delivery of the vibrating screen project further strengthened the partnership between IKAD and the client. The project stands as a testament to IKAD’s agility, technical capability, and commitment to supporting clients in critical operational situations.
Ongoing collaboration continues across multiple sites, with IKAD providing trusted support in fabrication, engineering solutions, and plant optimisation initiatives.

Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment

IKAD was required to fabricate and assemble a series of radial stackers to improve ore handling and reduce downtime in the crushing system. While the base design was supplied by the client, IKAD was responsible for developing detailed fabrication drawings and executing full in-house manufacture, surface treatment, and assembly.

Underwater A-Bracket Bearing Repair

IKAD was required to address excessive wear in an A-bracket bearing, a key structural element supporting the vessel’s propeller shaft. With no dry dock access available and significant operational risk associated with delays, IKAD was tasked with developing and executing a first-of-class underwater repair solution.
