THE CLIENT

A leading Australian lithium producer operating in the Pilbara region of Western Australia with a focus on sustainable growth and operational efficiency. They continue to invest in infrastructure that enhances material handling and processing across its sites.

BRIEF

The client engaged IKAD to fabricate and assemble a series of radial stackers to improve ore handling and reduce downtime in the crushing system. While the base design was supplied by the client, IKAD was responsible for developing detailed fabrication drawings and executing full in-house manufacture, surface treatment, and assembly.

PLANNING FOR SUCCESS

From the outset, IKAD placed strong emphasis on early-stage planning. A cross-functional project team was formed, with each department including machining, fabrication, and surface treatment aligned around a shared project timeline and set of deliverables.

The first phase of the project focused exclusively on planning and collaboration. Internal scheduling was coordinated alongside transport requirements, which involved oversized loads requiring pilot vehicle escorts. This front-end investment ensured that execution remained on track throughout, despite tight deadlines and logistical complexity.

OUR APPROACH

IKAD translated the client’s base design into detailed manufacturing drawings and managed the entire delivery lifecycle. This included procurement, fabrication, trial assembly, surface treatment, and final assembly within IKAD’s workshop facilities.

A major challenge was identified during trial assembly. The stackers, originally designed as a single fabricated structure, posed significant lifting and installation risks. IKAD responded by working with an external engineering firm to complete a comprehensive lift study. This ensured safe transport and installation without the need for disassembly or on-site modification.

The entire build was completed under one roof, leveraging IKAD’s full in-house capability. The final units were prepared for immediate site deployment, meeting both the technical requirements and logistical deadlines.

WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVED

The client received fully assembled, high-quality radial stackers delivered on schedule and ready for direct integration into site operations. The units were fabricated and treated to exacting standards, ensuring long-term durability and improved handling efficiency within the crushing circuit.

By mitigating lifting risks and managing the project in a fully integrated manner, IKAD reduced potential delays and ensured seamless site mobilisation. The successful delivery further reinforced IKAD’s role as a reliable partner in the clients ongoing operational strategy.

MOVING FORWARD

The successful completion of the radial stackers project strengthened the long-standing relationship between IKAD and the client. The client has continued to engage IKAD across a range of services including fabrication, wear solutions, and site-based support.

MV Sycamore

IKAD was required a complete overhaul of the Sycamore’s onboard access systems to meet updated operational and safety standards. This included the removal and replacement of all existing stair structures and the fabrication of entirely new access solutions. The works had to be delivered with minimal disruption to the vessel’s operational availability.
