Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Henderson-based team. This role suits someone who understands practical fabrication work—including chutes, tanks, pipework, heavy plate and structural steel—and can turn imperfect drawings and incomplete scopes into accurate tenders. You’ll play a key role in supporting our tender pipeline and delivering competitive submissions across SMP fabrication projects.
Key Projects & Scope
- Mining transfer chutes & materials handling equipment
- Tanks and pressure vessels
- Process and utility pipework
- Structural steel and heavy plate fabrication
- Site installation scopes (where required)
Responsibilities
- Review RFQs, drawings and specifications
- Interpret incomplete drawings and develop practical scopes
- Prepare first-principles estimates
- Develop fabrication hours and methodologies
- Source supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Participate in tender reviews and client discussions
- Liaise with engineering, project, procurement and workshop teams
- Identify risks, assumptions and commercial conditions
- Contribute to improving estimating systems and processes
Essential
- 3–5+ years estimating experience in mining, oil & gas or heavy industry
- Strong SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) estimating experience
- Proven experience pricing chutes, tanks, pipework and fabricated steel
- Strong first-principles estimating capability
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to interpret poor/incomplete drawings
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards and fabrication practices
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
Desirable
- Trade background (Boilermaker, Fabricator, Pipefitter, Mechanical)
- Engineering/estimating qualification with fabrication experience
- Experience coordinating subcontractor pricing and supplier negotiations
