IKAD steps up its capability with new workshop expansion
Building on its continued steady growth and cementing its place in Australia as the go-to engineering house for marine and shipping services, IKAD Engineering has unveiled its new workshop and fabrication facility in Henderson, Western Australia.
In less than nine months, the impressive 15,500sqm facility has been developed behind its premises in Henderson.
Managing Director Ivan Donjerkovich said, “It’s been a monumental effort from our crew, our contractors and our suppliers, and we’re excited to expand on the good work we’ve always done – while stepping up our fabrication, machining and mechanical activities.”
The new premises includes three workshops.
Workshop 1 contains 1200sqm of office space and a 5,500sqm fabrication facility with two (25-metre) bays with a 12-metre floor-to-hook, with lifting capacity of 100 tonnes (2 x 50T) in one bay and 40 tonnes (4 x 10T) in the other.
The design for this workshop had to accommodate the potential to fabricate hull sections for Defence frigates as part of its new ship-building program, and large projects for the resources sector.
The workshop also has 1500sqm of blast, paint and rubber lining facilities and a 3000sqm bitumen laydown yard.
Workshop 2 (2,500sqm) houses a fully equipped machine shop for mechanical fitting, overhaul and repairs, dynamic balancing, mechanical assembly and storage areas. It has two bays with two 10-tonne cranes, and a new CNC mill and lathes are on their way.
Workshop 3 (1,500sqm) is fully segregated for exotic welding and non-ferrous materials and has the capacity for 5-tonne overhead cranage.
The new facility and upgrades will propel the company to the next level of delivering its renowned marine engineering services to the Defence, resource and other industrial sectors.
IKAD is an approved District 3500 stores facility for the Department of Defence and also manages its spare parts for IKAD’s OEM partners’ products. It has dealership and agency agreements with Renk MAAG, Heila Cranes, Schoenrock Marine Hydraulic Systems, and MoUs with other global companies to represent their products in Australia as an agent or dealer.
Through its commitment to quality and service, IKAD consistently innovates and problem solves to deliver efficient, reliable solutions.
“Our core purpose is to maximise the return on investment for our clients by not only delivering quality work on time and on budget, but applying our years of engineering experience to ensure the most critical outcome — reliability — is realised. Having this fully equipped, multidisciplinary facility, backed by our talented crew will ensure we deliver on that promise,” Mr Donjerkovich said.
